Graphic artist Roberts Koļcovs exhibition “Indirect communication”
8. December - 22. December
Art gallery Putti presents graphic artist Roberts Koļcovs exhibition “Indirect communication” on display from December 8 until 22 December, 2017.
Indirect communication’s importance over world’s processes appears as a direct explanation of the content of artworks. We come across the situation when the content has influenced the involved in another, unexpected way. For effect of applied focus, one must use indirect means. Therefore, a win by Absolut Indirect Communication over usual causal relationship is celebrated.
For the exhibition artist has prepared a variety of works, containing large scale paintings, ceramic masks, as well as graphic works, that have been made during the last year. With these works artist continues interdisciplinary (painting, sculpture, graphic) communication, that has existed in his works from beginning of his creative expressions. The large scale paintings continue a cycle, which includes 12 paintings on the theme of the effect of smell on human body and spirit. The masks are made with priority of ornaments over shapes, keeping the symbolic meaning of the mask without a direct, verbal explanation.
Roberts Koļcovs (1966) studied at the Department of Sculpture at Riga School of Applied Arts and in the Art Academy of Latvia in the Graphic department. The artist regularly has exhibitions, has done illustrations for books and press, and also is the author of many interior paintings for social spaces and private buildings.
