“Beyond Black and White”
by SKUJA BRADEN (Latvia, the USA)
from June 10 to August 20, 2011
The international collaborative team of artists SKUJA BRADEN (Ingūna Skuja and Melissa Braden) will show a new porcelain collection derived from the central work of the coming exhibition – a group of altar vessels created especially for Trasol Hool buddhist monastery in England. The mentioned work of art is also the artist’s Ingūna Skuja Master’s degree work – “Porcelain for Ritual Use” at the Art Academy of Latvia.
The objects of the exhibition have been inspired by buddhism philosophy interpreted by westerner’s experience and a postmodern perspective. Walking through the exhibition will be like having an adventure through episodes of stories without a moral: the viewer just experiences it and interprets it through his own lens.
